Richard A. Levan

Annual Federal Securities Law Forum
Philadelphia, Pa.—April 27, 2006—Richard A. Levan,
a founding partner of the Philadelphia law firm Levan Friedman LLP, is a course planner and speaker
at today's 10th Annual Federal
Securities Law Forum sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar
Institute. The forum, which is the
largest securities-related program sponsored in Philadelphia,
also was held in Pittsburgh
on April 11. Mr. Levan will address the topic
of SEC enforcement actions against attorneys.
Mr. Levan is a leading authority on the regulatory and
legal obligations of Investment Advisors,
Broker-Dealers, Insurance Companies and Banks, with extensive
experience in both the government and private sectors. He is
currently Chair of the Securities Regulation Committee of the
Philadelphia Bar Association.
Before establishing Levan Friedman,
Mr. Levan was a partner at Drinker Biddle
& Reath LLP, where he co-chaired both the
firm's Securities Litigation and Regulation Group and its Financial
Services Integration Group. He has also served as a senior official in
the Securities and Exchange Commission's Philadelphia office and as an
Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice in
Washington, D.C.
In
addition to his extensive compliance and counseling background, Mr. Levan has over
twenty-four years' experience handling civil and criminal cases
initiated by such entities as the U.S. Department of Justice,
the Securities and Exchange Commission, state securities regulators and
self-regulatory organizations such as the NASD, the New York Stock
Exchange, and the Philadelphia Stock Exchange.
